What is dataset r5kz-chrr?
r5kz-chrr is the City of Chicago's business licence register — one row per licence, carrying its account number, category and expiration date. It joins to the City's business owner register, dataset ezma-pppn, on account_number. Measured 2026-07-29: 603 licences issued in 30 days, 4,162 expiring inside 60.
Read alone it overstates openings. 259 of those 603 rows are event permits and personal credentials, which is 43% of the raw count and the reason a naive pull produces a list nobody can sell into.

How this is measured
- Dataset
- r5kz-chrr + ezma-pppn
- Publisher
- City of Chicago
- Filter
- Issued-licence count over a trailing 30 days and expiry count over the following 60, both taken on the measurement date, with the owner register joined on account_number.
- Measured

Caveat. Both figures are windows taken on one day — 30 days back for issuance, 60 days forward for expiry. Neither is a rate, and neither is an average.
