When do Chicago business licences expire?
Each licence carries its own expiration date in dataset r5kz-chrr — expiry is per licence, not a citywide renewal day. Counted on 2026-07-29, 4,162 licences were due to expire inside the following 60 days. Filtering the file by expiration date returns any window you want.
A renewal window is a deadline the licence holder already knows about, which is what makes the record different from a cold list: the date is the City's, not a vendor's.

How this is measured
- Dataset
- r5kz-chrr
- Publisher
- City of Chicago
- Filter
- Licences with an expiration date inside the 60 days following the measurement date. No category filter, no status filter beyond what the City's file records.
- Measured

Caveat. Licence term lengths differ by category and are not measured here. The 4,162 figure is a count of expiry dates in one 60-day window, not a renewal rate.
